Healing Process
-
Keep it Clean
Wash the tattoo gently 2-3 times a day with mild soap and warm water. Pat it dry, never rub.
-
Apply Aftercare Ointment
Use a thin layer of fragrance-free ointment or lotion for the first 3-5 days. After that, switch to a light, unscented moisturizer as the tattoo begins to peel.
-
Avoid Scratching or Picking
Your tattoo will scab and peel—this is normal. Don’t pick at it or scratch, as it can cause scarring or color loss.
-
Stay Out of the Sun
Direct sunlight can fade your tattoo. Keep it covered and avoid sun exposure until fully healed (around 2-4 weeks).
-
Avoid Soaking
No swimming, baths, or hot tubs during healing. Keep the tattoo dry except for cleaning.
-
Wear Loose Clothing
Avoid tight clothes that rub against your tattoo, especially in the first few weeks.
-
Watch for Infection
Redness, swelling, or pus could be signs of infection. If you notice these, contact your artist or a doctor.
-
Healing typically takes 2-4 weeks, but complete healing can vary depending on the tattoo and your skin. Follow these steps for the best results!

Special Attention
-
Placement Matters
Tattoos on areas like joints (elbows, knees) or hands and feet may take longer to heal due to movement and rubbing. Avoid excessive bending and protect these areas as much as possible. -
Color Tattoos
Vibrant or light-colored tattoos (yellows, whites) can fade more quickly, so be extra diligent about avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen after healing. -
Large or Detailed Tattoos
For larger tattoos or those with fine details, healing can take longer. Keep the area well-moisturized and avoid heavy physical activity that may affect the skin. -
Tattoos Near Water
If your tattoo is near a body of water (beach, lake, pool), be extra cautious. Saltwater, chlorine, and bacteria can cause infections or slow down healing. Always avoid submerging it. -
Sensitive Skin Areas
If your tattoo is in a sensitive area (like ribs or inner arm), expect more irritation during healing. Keep the area clean and avoid friction from clothing.
These factors may require extra care and attention during the healing process to ensure your tattoo remains vibrant and heals properly.
